Summary:

Here is a throwback to a couple of posts I did a long time ago,  License Plate Geology. The next up on my License Plate Geology, is "Playa" Playa1. A term used in the southwestern U.S. for a dry, barren area in the lowest part of an undrained desert basin, underlain by clay, silt, or sand, and commonly by soluble salts. It may be marked by an ephemeral lake.  2. Playa lake. 3. A small sandy land area at the mouth of a stream or along a bay shore. (Definition courtesy of the Dictionary of Geological Terms, 3rd Ed.)  Badwater Basin, a playa in Death Valley National Park.
