A new study finds that in a Phoenix suburb, homeowners’ associations are good for water conservation. According to the study, homes in HOAs in Goodyear, Arizona use up to 17,000 fewer liters of water (4490 gallons) in the peak month of July compared to their non-HOA counterparts, roughly the amount needed to fill eleven hot

The people responsible for keeping all the engines and mechanical equipment running on the ship are the engineers, electricians and mechanics.  There are 5 engines and two back up generators, as well as 13 thrusters used to keep the ship on location while drilling.  The ship also makes its own potable water supply - maximum capacity is up to 150 tons, or 37,500 gallons per day, though read

The Texas Railroad Commission issued preliminary findings saying that the hydraulic fracturing wastewater injection well operated by an Exxon Mobil subsidiary was not to blame for earthquakes that shook Reno, Texas in 2013 and 2014. From the Manufacturing.net article:Commission investigators concluded that a well where Exxon Mobil subsidiary XTO Energy pumps millions of gallons of the wastewater likely didn't cause the quakes, but also said there wasn't enough evidence to demonstrate the [...]

These include: mineral water, ground water, well water, artesian water, spring water and sparkling water. The source of the water is often marked on the

While it has long been known that 'fracking' byproducts and waste water well injections can and do cause earthquakes, it seems that in Oklahoma, that fact was suppressed to protect the oil industry. According to an article on Rawstory, University of Oklahoma President David Boren pressured subordinates to either downplay or remain silent on the issue after being pressured by oil executives.Waste water well injections pump millions of gallons of chemical-laden liquid into 'waste water [...]

As I was saying, Arkansas was my 'Eureka" moment.  We had observed that all the earthquakes in southern Ontario were under the lakes.  Thus, all our historical seismicity was wrong.  It was simple:  No water, no earthquakes. Fracking was going ballistic, and there was something like 2 million gallons of water per hole.  All of this had to go some place, and that was deep underground.

Your filling the backyard pool for summer, and the kids are asking how long it will take to fill up. Now, you could just use simple math (using the gallons per minute you are adding to the pool divided by the total volume) and get an answer, but lets say you forgot to ask what it was and the internet is down, so you can’t look it up. Well, you

There are those who come to exploit the resource, tearing up the land and leaving behind a wake of destruction. There are no laws to control the behavior of the miners, except for a few arcane rules from a previous century. In the end the

No one was eager to go on for another week - these trips are too fast paced and action packed. No ones waistline could take it either. USGS Tool Could Predict, Prevent Wetlands Contamination By Sub-Surface Wastewater

While advances in hydraulic fracturing technology have resulted in an oil and gas boom in North Dakota and other parts of the U.S., the industry, federal and state regulators, and local communities have also had to contend with outgrowths of that development.  One particular issue confronting those groups is how to handle and dispose of wastewater.  To that end, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) recently developed a system that may help prevent some brine contamination in wetlands and [...]

7.3 Magnitude Quake Strikes Off Honshu Japan

A 7.3 quake just occurred off of Honshu, Japan, very near the epicenter of the deadly 2011 quake that caused a massive tsunami, and prompted a nuclear power plant disaster at Fukushima Daiichi. The quake was registered at approximately 17:10:16 UTC. A tsunami alert has been issued, however the predicted size is only about 1 meter (around 3 feet), nowhere near as powerful as the devastating tsunami of the 2011 disaster. No damage or injuries have yet been reported, however this quake [...]

New leaks into the groundwater have been detected at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant in Japan that experienced a triple meltdown in 2011 after an earthquake and Tsunami. The plant's operator, Tepco, recently admitted that radiactive contaminated groundwater is leaking into the Pacific Ocean at a rate of 75,000 gallons per day. The groundwater gradient in the vicinity flows from the mountains to the Ocean, passing through the plant. The water has flooded reactor buildings and leaks [...]

Mount Morgan Mine vs Royal Mountain King Mine and Dillution as the Solution to Pollution

Procedures control the discharge so the waters
