Big Horned Sheep

Had a great week in the field (all two days of it). On our way to the Suarez Site we stopped at Crystal Geyser, always a good resting place. We walked around and took a few pictures of geologic formation and plants fossilizing.

We headed driving along on the newly graded and graveled roads that the oil companies have pushed in the area. We made good time. Finally on the old two track, we were back in the rocks and the sand. As we went around one bend, a big horned sheep ran out in front of us. He was a young guy and stopped to have a look at us so I snapped some pictures of him.

At the Suarez Site, Bill and I worked on the east end of the site and found more bones of the therizinosaur and a large nodosaur bone we haven’t identified yet. We are working to get the quarry ready for a crew coming in from the Chicago Field House next week. This is the fourth time this crew has come out to dig with us. They are made up of volunteers that assist at the Field House and are always a fun group.

Now we have been working back in the lab inventorying equipment and making sure we have everything we need. It’s always fun having a crew who enjoys digging dinosaurs. Stay tuned for details of our adventure.
