Earthquakes on My Mind

Still image taken from the time-lapse video on the AzGS web site showing the 1887 San Bernardino earthquake. I've been contemplating a write-up of the recent earthquakes in southern California and I hope to get to that soon. In the meantime, this topic has been on the minds of the folks at the Arizona Geological Survey in Tucson, where they developed a time-lapse showing historic earthquakes in the greater Southwest since 1852. It is excellent and shows where quakes can occur. Note the big southeast Arizona quake in the 1880s, and the two big San Francisco Peaks quakes in 1906 and 1912. Lot's of other big quakes shown in this swell. Happy viewing and stay tuned!
