Moderate earthquake hits Japan, normal chances it is a foreshock
This is a beautiful clean subduction zone, and we know that these things need an M9 every 300 years or so, to do a thorough sweep-out. The last big earthquake in Japan had an M7 foreshock, and the odds are the usual 1 in 100. It's always a good time to practice the drills. I would paste my 2-buck accelerometers all over the place, but then, I would actually have them.
